METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE

DRIVE April 17, 2013
Source
The method involves measuring a pressure difference on level of an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve (6). A burnt gas fraction set point in an intake manifold (3) is selected. An opening set point for the valve is calculated from pressure drop relation applied to the level of the valve, a pressure drop relation relating an opening of the valve to the pressure difference on level of the valve and to the burnt gas fraction set point in the intake manifold. The valve is controlled as a function of the opening set point of the EGR valve. An independent claim is also included for a combustion engine.
