The method involves determining a priming value of temperature at which a catalytic converter (33A) is actuated, and measuring a real value of the temperature. The real value of the temperature is compared with the priming value of the temperature. An opening and/or closing of a regulation valve (36) are controlled based on the comparison result. The temperature is the temperature of burnt gas circulating in a burnt gas exhaust line (30) or the temperature of the burnt gas entering the catalytic converter. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine comprising a burnt gas exhaust line.
