Method for operating a navigation system with the display of a traffic lane schematic view

The method involves calculating a route from a starting point to a destination point, and obtaining the route from a sequence of route segments (02a to 02d) and nodes (03a,03b). The route is selected with a route calculation process from a database, in which a geographical area is described by route segments and nodes. The current position of the vehicle is detected during the display of a lane pattern plan. The lane pattern plan is displayed on a display unit.
