Rollover protection for motor vehicles

The rollover protection system (1) has a guide unit arranged at the motor vehicle and a rollover body (2) supported at the guide unit and adjustable between a bearing position and an overlay position. A pyrotechnic drive unit is provided which adjusts the rollover body from the bearing position into the overlay position. A cover (5) covering the rollover body at the motor vehicle in mounting position comprises a structurally weak passage area (6) for displacement of the roll over body by the cover. The cover has a predetermined breaking point (7) in the passage area.
