The method involves transmitting a radio start signal from the vehicle-side transceiving antenna (6A,6B,6C,6D,6E) if a change in capacitance of a door handle sensor (5A,5B,5C,5D,5E) by a predetermined value is detected. A device is provided for detecting precipitation. If precipitation is detected, an authentication communication is started if a change in capacitance on a door handle sensor by a predetermined amount is detected, that is higher than the first predetermined amount. An independent claim is included for a method of closing a sliding roof, bonnet or window of a motor vehicle.
