Method for operating a motor vehicle

The method involves inspecting a predetermined event during accomplishment of a standstill of the motor vehicle on the entrance. The mode is abandoned if such an event is detected so that the stand still remains permanently. A value for the vehicle speed is determined from signal impulses. A situation is treated as standstill during which the determined value fall short of a predetermined value.
