Air bag module with yieldably mounted gas generator

The module has an airbag (10), vibration-mounted gas generator (12) in a carrier (16), and an elastically deformable sealing element, e.g. a peripheral sealing ring (24). The free edges of the seal are in/directly fastened to the gas generator resp. its housing. A central section of the seal, which is free before the airbag is inflated, is deflected by the pressure generated in the airbag interior in such a way, that it in/directly engages on a support surface (22) formed on a section of the gas generator housing.
