Method of manufacturing a support plate of shock absorber for bumper beam and support plate obtained by this method

The method involves producing a pre-form with a soleplate having runners, by extruding an aluminum/aluminum alloy slug. Base of the runners is cut by placing a connecting portion (17b) on the soleplate to form free portions. Each free portion is bent along contour of a central orifice (13) to bring end edges in contact. The edges are welded and the base is welded on the soleplate to form a cylindrical portion (14) of a mounting plate. An independent claim is also included for a mounting plate of a shock absorber of a bumper face bar of a motor vehicle.
