The method involves verifying a speed input condition when speed of a vehicle (1) is less than a threshold speed. A gear shift lever position condition is verified when the position of a gear shift lever in combination with a measured slope indicates that the vehicle moves upwards the slope or is at a dead point. Torque input condition is verified when an engine torque is less than a threshold engine torque. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) driver assisting software (B) a vehicle comprising a braking system having a programmable braking controller.
