Automatised clutch wear detection method
DRIVE
December 1, 2004
The method involves measuring clutch position (Pefc) when it is closed. The degree of clutch wear is calculated and compared to a determined threshold value. The clutch is progressively opened till a position such that the torque transmitted by the clutch is equal to a motor torque. Time variations of engine speed and primary speed of the gear box during the opening are measured to detect a real clutch wear.
