Start-assist for a vehicle

The method for controlling a starting aid for articulated or non-articulated lorries which have a load-bearing axle (35) mounted directly in front of the drive axle (34), both axles being mounted on air springs, uses a level sensor to measure the difference in height of the axles and maintain it at a desired value. The load on the drive axle is measured and, if this does not exceed the maximum desired value, load (39) is transferred to it from the load-bearing axle.
