Heat exchanger comprises a bundle of pipes through which hot gas flows, pipe bottoms (2), and a housing casing containing the bundle of pipes and the pipe bottoms and through which a liquid coolant flows. The bundle of pipes consists of pipes (3) with pipe ends (3a). The pipe bottoms have openings receiving the pipe ends. The pipe ends are connected, especially welded, to the pipe bottoms and the pipe bottoms are connected, especially welded, to the housing casing. The pipe bottoms consist of several layers of layered and interconnected panels (4, 5). Preferred Features: The pipe bottoms are bend-resistant.
