The motor vehicle trailer coupling has a hitch arm (1) with an upwardly extending ball head (2) for releasable connection to a trailer. The inner end spigot (12) of the arm is mounted in a rotary bearing (3) to allow it move between a rearward and lowered use position and a raised and forward non-use position. The bearing forms a sliding head for movement of the hitch arm actuated by a drive motor (17) and spindle (16).
