Vehicle headlamp with a discharge lamp

The headlight has a converging lens (4) placed in front of an ellipsoidal reflector (2), with its focus more near to the reflector than to external focus of the reflector. An ellipsoidal reflector (6) is provided above a lamp, for forming an image of a discharge lamp (3), to constitute a virtual light source (7). A vertical reflector (8) is arranged at the base part for producing a light beam from the source.
