Manoeuvring aid for motor vehicles

Maneuvering aid (41) for a motor vehicle comprises a sensor system (24, 26, 28, 30) providing information about obstacles in the environment of the vehicle, and a display unit (40) with a flat display (44) for the information. The display unit shows a symbol (48) for the vehicle from a bird's eye view and symbols (50, 52, 54) for the obstacles. The symbols for the obstacles are arranged on the flat display in a position relative to the symbol for the vehicle that represents the actual position of the obstacles relative to the vehicle. Preferred Features: The motor vehicle is arranged in a central position on the display.
