The centre section of the gas bag wall during inflation is prevented from free movement but is restrained. An indent (28) at the transition to the front wall (14) has a mouth (30) which is surrounded by a closed stabilising ring (34). The stabilising ring can be mounted in a channel (38) formed on the front wall, e.g. by a fabric strip (36) fixed on the front wall.
