A gas bag module has a gas bag (3) with a gas bag wall, which has a front wall (11) facing the occupant to be restrained with a center section (13) and a rear wall (12) with an inflation opening for connection of a gas generator (5). Furthermore, a fastening (15) is provided which holds the center section (13) in the fully inflated state of the gas bag (3) on the module and prevents it from moving freely outward when deploying, so that the center section (13) forms an indentation (27). A module cover (9) is opened in the restraint case for the gas bag to exit, whereby the module cover (9) has an annular, predetermined exit opening (14) which surrounds the fastening (15). The module cover has a holding section (37) enclosed by the exit opening (14) to which an emblem (15) formed as a separate part, fastened to the module and visible from the outside, adjoins. The emblem fastening simultaneously serves to fasten the center section (13).
