External rear view mirror control

The method involves checking if at least one exterior mirror (4) is in the folded-in position (PE), generating a control signal if a folded-in mirror is detected and generating a state indication detectable by at least one person in the vehicle interior using the control signal depending on at least one operating parameter of the motor vehicle and/or initiating a position change into the operating position of the at least one folded-in mirror. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an arrangement for controlling motor vehicle exterior mirrors electrically movable between operating and folded positions.
