The return line connection arrangement has a pressure damper ventilation line (3) and a leakage line (4) leading from the high-pressure pump (HDP1) to a fuel tank (5), whereby the leakage line is held closed by a valve when the internal combustion engine is not operating. The pressure damper ventilation line is connected by a further valve through to a tank venting line (7) when the engine is not operating.
