Casted, liquid-cooled cylinder head of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine
DRIVE
June 9, 2004
The cast cylinder head, for a multi-cylinder water-cooled internal combustion motor, has coolant chambers (7) at the base against a longitudinal wall (8) of the cylinder head and a longitudinal channel (9) for gas, with branch channels (10) opening into the gas exchange channels (4,5) which are controlled by the valves. A strut (12) in each branch channel passes through the coolant chamber to link the longitudinal side wall of the cylinder head with the gas exchange channel, near a valve seat ring (13). The cooled strut is in a diametrical zone of the one-piece structure of the gas exchange channel and the spark plug or injector dome (6), and is bonded to the gas exchange channel.
