Vehicle driving system

The drive system has an IC engine (1) and a multi-phase electrical machine (2), acting as a starter, a generator or a starter-generator, fitted to the crankshaft (4) of the IC engine, a multi-phase electronic control unit (3) for the electrical machine offset from it in both axial and radial directions, with rigid electrical leads between them. The electronic control unit can be secured to fixing points (15) provided by the IC engine for a standard starter.
