The method involves controlling the auxiliary device (3) so as to reduce resonant natural oscillations of the internal combustion engine (2) relative to the body (5). The auxiliary device is controled so as to minimize the periods spent in critical revolution rate ranges in which resonant natural oscillations of the internal combustion engine are stimulated. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a regulating system for regulating an auxiliary unit coupled to an internal combustion engine suspended from a body.
