Plate element for fuel cell stacks

The plate element (10) accommodates a stack of fuel cells. It has a frame (11) with many inward-extending interdigitating fingers (13) defining a meandering channel. The frame has chambers (15-18) at the ends and ribs (12) on the outside. The fuel cell stack may be connected up in a monopolar or bipolar arrangement.
