Motor vehicle with an openable soft top

The motor vehicle has a folding top with an operating linkage which includes a U-shaped clamp (21), each member (24) of which is connected to a pivot point (22) via a detachable connecting device (28). Each member of the clamp is constructed in two sections (29,30) which are detachably fastened to one another by the connecting device. The connecting device has a hinge axis (31) which extends parallel to the pivot point at a distance (Ah,Al) away from it, and the U-clamp is movable around the hinge axis into the erect service position.
