Door step strip (1) for connecting to the door step of a motor vehicle construction comprises an insert element forming a tread in the door cut-out. The insert element consists of a support held in a recess in the door step strip and having on its upper side at least one rubber strip (G) arranged between an outer panel (4) and an inner panel (3). Preferred Features: The support is made of a plastic material and the panels are made of a high grade steel material.
