The method involves a computer to determine a correction factor from a vehicle basic acceleration, a desired acceleration and actual acceleration. The basic acceleration is that experienced by the vehicle at the instant brakes become effective. A memory stores the correction factors derived from previous braking operations and a computer calculates an average value of theses stored factors. An evaluator then compares the two factors and initiates an alarm.
