Diesel engine with variable compression ratio

The diesel engine has a line of engine cylinders, with at least one inlet valve and at least one outlet valve for each cylinder, with 2 parallel camshafts (11,12) provided for respectively opening and closing the cylinder inlet valves, the valve closure camshaft provided with a phase shift device, allowing the valve closure point to be delayed by up to 60 degrees relative to the normal valve closure point. A further camshaft (15) is provided for opening and closing the cylinder outlet valves. An Independent claim for a control method for a turbocharged diesel engine is also included.
