Starting device

The motor (13) has a hollow drive shaft (37) with a hub (67) at the rear end. Inside the shaft a flexible component is fitted, e.g. a torsion bar (70) which has splines (73) engaging with the hub. At the other end the bar is fitted with a pinion (76) to transmit torque to the engine to be started.
