The tailgate is pivoted via a two-part hinge unit, connected pivoted to a multi-lever arrangement, e.g. a four-bar linkage (18). The tailgate-fastened hinge unit part (15) has a long bore (21,22) for fastening to the tailgate, and there is an adjusting slide (26) with long bore (27,28) between tailgate and hinge part. A fastener passes through both long bores, and is connected to the tailgate. The second bore extends at an angle of between 0 degrees and 90 degrees to the first one. The body-fastened hinge unit part (14) is moveable relative to the body.
