Arrangement of a front bonnet for pedestrian protection

The flap is fastened to the vehicle body via a hinge unit with four-bar mechanism with short and long bar. A coupling bar (6) is hinged between vehicle body and the body-sided joint (12) of the short bar (5). A steering bar (7) is hinged between the vehicle body and the body-sided joint (8) of the long bar (4). An energy accumulating device (9) engages on the freely projecting end of the steering bar. The device has a mechanical spring and/or a pneumatic spring, or is a pyrotechnic device.
