An external mirror for motor vehicles, serves for surveillance of at least a part of the road in front of the vehicle, and is located in front of the vehicle windscreen. It incorporates a mirror carrier arm (6) which is provided at its end with a holding plate (2) glueable to a vehicle body element, particularly, the windscreen (4).
