The mobile telephone holder has a base part (2) attached to the automobile and a removable adapter (3) for reception of the mobile telephone (1), fixed in a defined position relative to the base part when the mobile telephone is not in use. The base part and the adapter have cooperating stop elements interlocking for fixing the adapter to the base part, with a locking device (6,24,31) activated by an impact for preventing accidental release of the adapter.
