Vehicle roof with flat illumination element

The roof has an adjustable closure element (10) for selectively closing or at least partly exposing an opening (12) in a fixed roof skin (14). The closure element is provided with a flat illumination element (26) on its underside in the form of a coating that is directly applied to the closure element. The closure element can be the cover of a sliding roof, sliding-lifting roof or spoiler roof.
