Roof assembly for a vehicle

A roof assembly for a vehicle having an opening (2) in its fixed roof (1) comprises a stationary part (7) to be fixed to the roof. It includes at least two guide rails (6), and an adjustable closure element (3) supported by said stationary part. The closure element is adjustable at least between a closed position and an open position. An operating mechanism adjustably supports the closure element (3) and side finishers (9) fill a space between the closure element and an adjacent cant rail of the fixed roof when the roof assembly is mounted to the fixed roof. Each side finisher (9) is movably supported such that at least a portion of the side finisher is movable from a closing position to a releasing position to be adapted to the closure element (3) when it is moved to its open position. A coupling (12) is provided to couple movements of the side finisher (9) to movements of the closure element (3).
