Method for checking a fuel injection system

The method involves measuring the induction air pressure in an internal combustion engine's induction system and taking this into account in an engine controller when setting operating modes for an engine. A sensor signal is cross-correlated with a control signal for an actuator arrangement (42,24,28) for influencing the induction air pressure and a cross-correlation coefficient is evaluated as a diagnostic signal for the induction air sensor (68).
