The method involves triggering an actuator (20) directly by a trigger signal, for influencing a charge air pressure generated by a compressor of an exhaust-gas turbocharger. Time characteristic of the trigger signal is specified as a function of time, for triggering the actuator. The characteristic of the signal is specified as a function of an operating point of an internal combustion engine.
