The control device of an electric parking brake of a motor vehicle comprises a transducer (16) and a manual control mechanism (26) for actuating the transducer (16), the transducer (16) being adapted to produce a parking brake control signal. It comprises means (98) for detecting a movement of the manual control mechanism (26), these detection means (98) being independent of the transducer (16), and means (102) for processing the control signal generated by the transducer (16) for controlling the parking brake, which processing means (102) are adapted to allow the processing of the control signal only upon detection of a movement of the manual control mechanism (26).
