Method for limitation of the braking power of a retarder

January 30, 2002
The procedure for the limiting of braking power of a retarder in a brake system as a function of the temperature of cooling medium is carried out so that at the end of a predetermined period of time during which the cooling medium temperature has remained constant the maximum permissible temperature is compared with the actual temperature of the cooling medium. Having established a value difference the permissible braking power of the retarder is changed by an amount calculated as a function of the value difference.
