Exterior rear view mirror for vehicles, in particular for motor vehicles

The external rear view mirror for motor vehicles has electric cable with at least one section installed in the foot (2) of the mirror and one in the mirror head (3). The cables are interconnected by a plug-in connection so that when the mirror head is folded down the cable sections can be disconnected and when hinged back up again are automatically re-plugged in. One plug-in connector (8) is provided on the end section adjacent to the mirror head, and the other plug-in connector (9) is provided in the region of the foot on an intermediate joint (4).
