Roll over protection system for motor vehicles
DRIVE
December 5, 2001
Roll-over protection systems of this type typically have a roll-over body (3) with an integrated headrest (8), which is continuously adjustable by means of a separate drive. In such a construction, it is necessarily required that when the deployment movement of the roll-over body (3) guided in a vehicle-fixed outer casing (1) is triggered, the separate drive be disengaged. According to the invention, an uncomplicated disengagement of the drive is achieved with a headrest (8) which is mounted on at least one guide rod (7), which is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the roll-over body (3) and is likewise longitudinally displaceable in the outer casing (1), and to which an additional electric drive system (16) for continuously adjusting the headrest (8) independent of the adjustment of the roll-over body (3) is assigned, which has an electric motor (16) mounted on the outer casing (1), on whose drive shaft a first gear (15) is mounted, which meshes with a second gear (14) in a detachable manner, which is connected to the roll-over body (3) and is in operative engagement with a tooth segment (13) formed on the guide rod (7).
