The invention relates to a safety device on a vehicle (1), in particular on a motor vehicle, with a front hood (2; 29) and with a sensor device arranged on the vehicle (1), which is coupled with an energy storage unit associated with the front hood (2; 29), which in the state activated by the sensor device raises the front hood (2; 29) from a front hood rest position (3) into a front hood impact position (13, 14; 24, 26). According to the invention, the energy storage unit has at least two energy storage devices (4, 5, 6; 15, 16, 17) associated with the front hood, which can be activated independently of one another in any combinations and/or time intervals as a function of the collision conditions sensed by the sensor device, such that the front hood (2; 29) can be raised into a front hood impact position (13, 14; 24, 26) adapted accordingly to the respectively sensed collision conditions.
