Independent wheel suspension for vehicles
DRIVE
July 25, 2001
The wheel suspension has a longitudinal rod (1) with wheel bearing (4) supported for swivel movement on a vehicle structure through an elastic bearing. The longitudinal rod is bending-soft in the transverse direction but bending-resistant in the vertical direction. It is coupled for articulated movement to a track rod (3) which is supported by its other end on the vehicle structure. the cross rod (2) is connected to the longitudinal rod either fixed or through hinges.
