This collision damper (4) consists of a hollow tubular metal body, whose outer end is closed forming a flange by which the body is fixed to the bumper bar cross member (1) whilst the inner end is turned outwards to provide a flange by which it is fixed to the vehicle body side member (3). Round the circumference of the body (1) are a number of web-shaped areas (10) along its lateral axis (9). Running between the neighbouring webs (10) are a number of channels (11), between which are outwardly vaulted sections (12) arranged so that these vaulted areas (12) form a circular or spiral path round the axis (9) of the damper body.
