Steering wheel comprising an airbag module cover

A cover for an airbag system is provided with tear lines (21) which enable the expanding airbag to rupture the cover, leaving segments of the cover attached to the edges of the cover by hinges (29). Each segment is provided with further hinges (31) which allow the segments to fold while expanding thereby reducing the injury risk to the occupant. The folded segments leave a wide aperture which also allows the airbag to deflate without hindrance.
