The airbag cover (2) which opens outwards under pressure of the opening airbag is flexible and designed to yield to the pressure of the inflating airbag. The airbag is mounted underneath the cover in a socket area (4) connected to the support (1). The cover has tear lines (10) to form a defined rip-open area (14). The airbag lifts up the cover to form an outward curvature and draws it along the tear lines.
