Process for automatically controlling the exterior lighting of a vehicle

The method involves switching the lighting devices depending on the ambient conditions. The position and the time are detected as ambient conditions in which the vehicle is being operated and the external lighting devices are switched depending upon them. The devices can be switched depending on at least one other ambient condition in addition to position and time. Independent claims are also included for the following: a device for automatic switching of external lighting devices for a motor vehicle.
