The method involves feeding acoustic signals occurring in the vehicle, which can contain signals dependent on the operating state and/or ambient noise signals and potentially voice signals, to a voice recognition system (3) which uses acoustic references (8) selected and/or adapted depending on detected operating states and/or operational ambient information. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement with equipment controllable by voice signals.
