Heatable seat belt retractor

This automatic safety-belt roller (1) is mounted on a mounting plate (2) and is in a housing which is in three sections. The section (5) containing the sensor unit has a spring-loaded cover (4) under which is also fitted a heater element (8) connected to the motor cycle electrical system (7). A second heater element (6) also connected to the motor cycle electrical system (7) is fitted round the exterior of the housing (5). Also under the spring loaded cover is a drying chemical (9) to remove any damp from the safety belt roller. This ensures that the air in the roller housing is kept warm and dry, so that the roller does not become iced up during the winter weather.
