Safety device for a motor vehicle such as a load compartment cover, separation net or suchlike

A safety restraint for a vehicle either separates the load space from the seating area of covers the load space horizontally. The restraint is wound on a reel and is fitted into a housing with telescopic spring loaded ends which locate into mounting holes in the inside of the vehicle. The holes are set in strong support plates fitted to the inside of the vehicle and are shaped to provide a snug fit for the telescopic ends, to prevent rattling. The support plates can be part of the vehicle body and are covered with trim panels.
