Load carrier to be mounted at the rear of a vehicle

A tail load carrier for mounting on a car has a support frame that has a connecting device (1) for fastening on a car-side trailer coupling. The connecting device has a connecting body (2) which forms a mounting (3) for a connecting head (4) of the car-side trailer coupling and retaining devices (6) to fix in the mounting the connecting head positioned in the mounting. An open retaining ring is provided as a retaining device which is placed in a recess surrounding the mounting and open to this. By means of an operating device (8) it can be deformed between a clamping position in which it projects into the mounting to fix the connecting head and a slide-in position in which it is expanded with respect to the clamping position so that the connecting head can be inserted into the mounting or removed from this.
